Air India flight to New York left behind luggage of all passengers

In an unprecedented incident, an Air India flight carrying 277 passengers to New York from New Delhi's IGI airport flew to the destination leaving behind luggage of all the passengers.

According to a report in India Today, the Air India flight, AI 191, flew to New York's Newark Liberty International Airport on December 17 from New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport with a stop over in Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

The report said, a passenger who was on-board the flight confirmed about the incident. Monica, a passenger in the flight, told the English news channel: "I boarded the flight from New Delhi and I think the luggage was loaded as well. We had a stopover at Mumbai, and that's where the luggage was left behind."

The passenger also added that airlines informed the passengers that they will take at least four to five days to bring the luggage to New York, the report said.

In this winter season, the mismanagement of the state-run airlines has left stranded passengers without warm clothes, medicines, important documents and even credit cards, which passengers left behind in their airline baggage.
