Akhilesh Yadav rebuffs Uncle Shivpal; names 403 candidates
Reports say that Akhilesh vehemently ignored uncle Shivpal's list and made his own list of 403 candidates for UP polls
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle and Samajwadi Party state chief Shivpal Yadav locked horns over nomination of candidates for the upcoming polls.
When Shivpal said indiscipline will not be tolerated which may harm party's image, Akhilesh replied party's strength is his image and record.
Reports say that Akhilesh vehemently ignored uncle Shivpal's list and made his own list of 403 candidates for UP polls. This is considered as the CM's new move in the ongoing power play.
On December 24, he met first time MLAs at his residence and promised them new tickets. The next day by defying Shivpal Yadav's nominations, UP chief minister submitted a new list of 403 candidates to his father and party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
A hostile Shivpal retorted and said names of 175 candidates were already finalised and Mulayam avoided Akhilesh's list. He also added that distribution of tickets were done on the basis of winnability.
However, it is reported that Mulayam Singh will take the final call on candidates.
Newly inducted BJP leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi told News18 about the ongoing tussle and said the SP government in UP has failed in every terms. Joshi said: "They are fighting for future leadership, they want maximum ticket distribution... They have failed on every terms".
"SP is playing a game and Prof. Ramgopal Yadav also raised this question before...They are fighting within themselves. People need an answer," she said.
On the other hand, Congress termed the internal fighting as their "internal matter".
