Amit Shah blames Opposition for winter session washout over demonetisation

BJP President Amit Shah lashed out at the Opposition for the washout of winter session of Parliament over demonetisation.

"Opposition wasted entire winter session by shouting. They did not have the will to hold any kind of discussion over demonetisation in Parliament,” Shah said.

Shah, speaking at Parivartan rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur, said that opposition didn’t let the parliament function, which ultimately led to a logjam, so no debate could take place on this issue.

Criticising BSP suprimo Mayawati and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Shah said that UP is stuck between the fight of Bua and Bhatija. The BJP chief added that his party, if voted to power, will end goonda raj from the state.

He accused Mayawati of indulging corruption and said, "Mayawati is the most corrupt of them all". Slamming Samajwadi Party he said, "You (SP) have ruled for five years with full majority. Show your report card to the people of Uttar Pradesh. Don't try to mislead the public by criticising demonetisation.”

He also hit out at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who claimed that he had information about personal corruption of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Rahul Baba, you don't ask any question from us. You always make a mess out it and cause damage for yourself," Amit Shah said.

Shah said that PM Modi favoured discussion and change in fund raising process of political parties during the all-party meeting at the beginning of winter session and said all elections from Panchayat to Parliament should be held on the same day. “Modiji has put forward a view, and I want to appeal to leaders of all opposition parties that and we should accept discussion on it to bring probity in politics," he said

He attacked parties opposing demonetisation and said only those whose "billions have been reduced to trash" are feeling the pain after the measure.
