Militants and security forces continue firing for third consecutive day, after three militants were killed yesterday in an encounter at  south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Two more terrorists were killed today, thus ending the operation.

Reportedly, a search operation was launched at Hassanpora village in Bijbehara area of Anantnag early morning following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the village, a police official said. The official said as the security forces were conducting the search operation, the militants fired upon them triggering an encounter.


The heavy exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces entered its third day on Friday in Arwani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag.
Railway authorities had suspended train services from Budgam-Banihal due to the encounter. There were also reports of mobile services being suspended in Kulgam and Anantnag districts.
