Bengaluru real estate firms under I-T scanner
A day earlier, the investigators also surveyed seven jewellers in Bengaluru
The Income Tax (I-T) Department swooped down on the premises of real estate companies Gopalan Enterprises (which owns a chain of malls in Bengaluru) and VRR Builders and Co on Saturday.
The books of accounts of these two firms were scrutinised, according to a report in Bangalore Mirror. However, officials stayed tight-lipped about the operation.
A day earlier, the investigators also surveyed seven jewellers in Bengaluru based on the information that a few bullion dealers were involved in illegal exchanges.
During the survey, they found that huge sales were made in November (after demonetisation), much higher than the same period last year.
The surveys found undisclosed income of Rs 47.74 crore.
