1.Sultan (Rs 300 crore)

Salman Khan delivered an amazing performance in this action and comedy movie, narrating the rise and fall of a wrestler..



The movie managed to collect Rs 300 crore in India alone, and topped the list of box office hits of the year. Salman’s ability to assimilate the complex character and painstaking effort from the team to relive the experience of a wrestling helped to make the movie a great box office hit.

2.Dangal (Rs 190 crore)

Yet another sports drama that rocked the box office in 2016. Aamir Khan delivered an amazing performance as a wrestler who is keen to bring up his daughters as successful wrestlers in life. 
It netted about Rs 190 crore till Thursday. Aamir’s make over for the movie to narrate the real life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat struck the chord with audience.

3.M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

A bio pic on the life of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sushant Singh Rajput was able to live up to the expectations of cricket buffs and collected about  Rs 129 crore.

5. Inspired by true incidents, Rustom narrated the life of a Navy officer charged with murder. Rustom was a nail biting court drama and collected Rs 127.

6.Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

This Karan Johar directorial hogged headlines even before its release by courting controversies. It collected Rs 100 crore.

7.Housefull 3

The third sequel of Housefull collected Rs 107.70 crore.
