BJP is misusing the state machinery to malign the name of BSP: Mayawati

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Tuesday, in a press conference in Lucknow, said that the BJP is misusing state machinery to malign the name of BSP.

She alleged that the BJP government is targeting her because of her being a Dalit and accused the party of having an anti-Dalit mentality. BSP chief’s allegations came a day after reports surfaced that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has detected cash deposits totalling over Rs 104 crore in an account belonging to her party and Rs 1.43 crore in an account belonging to her brother, Anand.

She said that her younger brother Anand has his own business and he deposited money in bank accounts according to IT rules.

“BJP has tried to malign my and my families name before, but that will not deter BSP to regain power in UP in next elections,” Mayawati said. She added that personal attack her party members is sign that the BJP is scared of BSP.

She said that BSP has only deposited money in banks according to proper rules, the black money allegations on BSP are a conspiracy. “The money deposited in banks was the donations made to BSP till August 31, not black money. Other parties have also deposited their money, an attack only on BSP clearly shows BJP's anti-Dalit stance,” Mayawati said.

“I have been in UP since August 31 and collected money through donations. The money was collected before demonetisation,” she added.

Lambasting the saffron party she said BJP cannot see a Dalit daughter control the master-key to most crucial political state in India. She asked BJP to give account of money deposited by its party 10 months before and since Nov 8, the day Prime Minister Modi decided to demonetise 86% of currency in circulation.
