After news came in that Home Minister Rajnath Singh called Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to enquire about the health of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, sources in the Governor's office have revealed that the Governor will be joined by Rajnath to make an important announcement at 11 pm tonight. Rao was asked by Rajnath Singh to take stock of the situation earlier in the day after the chief minister of Tamil Nadu was reported to have suffered a cardiac arrest and moved to a ventilator and other life support.


Huge crowd gathered outside Apollo Hospital, where she has been admitted since September 22 after she complained of fever and dehydration, after the news went viral on Sunday. Many supporters were reported to have been praying for the well-being of the Chief Minister and were seen wailing. Police force has been deployed outside the hospital in case the crowd gets out of control as a precautionary measure. Also the DGP had asked all superintendents of police all over the state to report for bandobust duty. Apollo Hospital has stated that "Amma" is being treated and monitored by a team of experts.

Sources within the hospital have revealed that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is the only prominent political leader to have been able to see the Tamil Nadu CM from a distance behind the glass. The source adds that she has not made any movements visible to them for a while now and has been on the ventilator much before the announcement was made.
