BSF shoots down intruder near Pathankot

The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday evening shot dead an infiltrator from Pakistan near Tinda post in Pathankot's Bamiyal sector in Punjab.

The BSF personnel shot the intruder dead after he came close to the border fencing in Bamiyal area, a police official posted in Pathankot said on Saturday. Three to four intruders from Pakistan attempted to cross international border last night. When BSF spotted the intruders, they were fired upon, killing one of them, reported Times Now.

Meanwhile, a massive search operation was launched yesterday by Punjab Police, Himachal Pradesh Police and Army in Pathankot after a local resident claimed to have spotted four to five armed men roaming around suspiciously.

The police said that as many as 250 security personnel including SWAT commandos were deployed in the search operation in the hilly areas located on the border of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Pathankot had seen a major terror attack in January 2016 when heavily-armed terrorists who had sneaked in from across the border attacked an air base.

On July 27 last year, Dinanagar in Punjab’s Gurdaspur was also targeted by terrorists.
