China blocks proposal to list Masood Azhar as terrorist
With the latest move, China has now blocked India's application thrice to designate JeM chiefs a terrorist.
In a major blow to India, China has once again blocked a proposal at the United Nations to list Jaish-e-Muhammad’s Chief Masood Azhar as a global designated terrorist.
With the latest move, India’s neighbor, the veto-wielding member of the UN 1267 committee, has now blocked India's application thrice to designate JeM chief’s a terrorist.
India made an application to the UN seeking a ban following the alleged involvement of Azhar in the Pathankot terrorist attack. NIA filed a charge sheet naming Masood Azhar and three others of his organisation as masterminds behind the airbase attack.
China's placed its first technical hold on naming Masood Azhar a terrorist in April 2016, while it extended the technical hold, which was to expire on Saturday, in October, saying there were “different views” on India’s application.
