Days after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi raised corruption allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior congress leaders, including Rahul, are set to meet Modi on Friday.
Reports said Congress leaders will meet Modii before the Parliament session and discuss the issues related the inconvenience caused to the farmers due to the note ban.
The meeting with PM is scheduled at 10:30 am, and the opposition leaders are also expected to meet President Pranab Mukherjee at 12.30 am, media reports said.
Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was personally terrified of allowing him speak in Parliament since he had information on the prime minister’s corruption.
“I have some personal information on PM Modi, which is what I want to speak on in Lok Sabha, but I am not being allowed to speak,” said Rahul to the media on behalf of the Opposition MPs after a meeting of several opposition parties.
He said the prime minister is afraid of the Congress since it can burst the balloon the PM is in. The Congress leader emphasised the stand of the united opposition that they were ready for discussion in Parliament and alleged it was the government which was not ready.
“Allow opposition to speak in the House. PM owes country an explanation, cannot keep running away to pop concerts and public meetings,” Rahul concluded. The Prime MInister had said at a meeting in Gujarat that he would rather speak in the jan sabha since the Opposition would not allow him to speak in the Lok Sabha. Modi had also done a skype call during the recent Coldplay concert in Mumbai shortly after the demonetisation was announced.
Later, reacting to Rahul’s accusation, BJP leaders pitched up a vehement attack on Rahul and Congress.
Prakash Javadekar, Minister for Human Resource Development has accused the Congress Party of supporting those involved in money laundering and and black money.
