Dalit woman forced to deliver in toilet in Kerala
The relatives filed a complaint to the superintendent, who reportedly said it was not an 'uncommon' incident
A Dalit woman was forced to give birth inside a toilet in the medical college hospital in Manjeri in Malappuram district of Kerala after the nurses and other staff allegedly refused to attend to her.
Manorama News reported on Saturday that the woman was admitted to the hospital two days ago. However, as the hospital staff refused to give her proper care, she delivered in the toilet, her relatives alleged.
The relatives filed a complaint to the superintendent, who reportedly said it was not an 'uncommon' incident.
The woman's relatives then approached the District Medical Officer. "The baby is safe by God's grace," one of the relatives later told reporters.
