Delhi: 17-year-old girl shot dead in Mercedes car by friend

A 17-year-old girl was shot dead in a Mercedes car in South-West Delhi’s Najafgarh area Tuesday night allegedly by her male friend.

The incident happened when the victim was returning home from a lunch with two friends - Shubham and Yogesh. The trio had reportedly gone to Rajouri Garden in the Yogesh’s car to have lunch in the evening, reported Hindustan Times.

The victim knew Shubham, but it was the first time she was meeting Yogesh, a friend of Shubham’s.

“On their way back, they stopped at Dwarka for shopping. The girl’s mother called her around 7:30 pm,” a senior police officer told PTI. At around 9 pm, when the group was near the girl’s house, Yogesh reportedly got out of the car to relieve himself.

He spotted a friend and began conversing with him. Suddenly, they heard a gunshot. When they ran towards the car, they saw the girl lying in a pool of blood. Shubham had fled from the car. The girl’s mother, who was waiting few meters away, told the police that she heard the sound of a bullet.

The girl was taken to a local hospital in Dwarka where she was declared brought dead. Shubham had allegedly fired at the girl with Yogesh’s licensed pistol. The murder weapon has been recovered. Police is trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
