Dense fog cripples Delhi: 81 trains delayed, flight operations affected
The Met has predicted that New Delhi will continue to reel under dense fog this week.
The national capital witnessed a thick, dense blanket of fog, affecting landing and departure of early morning flights and schedule of trains. Several flights and trains were also delayed in several North India states.
Officials said 81 trains were running late, 21 have been rescheduled and three cancelled due to poor visibility in Delhi. Visibility levels were very low, taking a toll on the morning traffic.
Media reports said the Met has predicted that New Delhi will continue to reel under dense fog this week.
Eight international flights are also delayed, three have been diverted and five domestic. Railway officials said that trains running late included Himgiri Express (26 hours), Amarnath Express (20 hours), Purbia Express (18 hours), Kaifiyat Express (19 hours), Avadh-Assam Express, Punjab Mail, Kota-Patna Express, Nauchandi Express, Bihar Sampark Kranti Express, Gareeb Rath, Mau-Anand Vihar Express, Triveni Express and many more.
In Uttar Pradesh, foggy weather and biting cold have disrupted normal life in most parts of the state since last three days.
Several trains including Sealdah Delhi Sampark Kranti Express, which passes through UP, were cancelled while over two dozen trains were either running late or very late.Road transportation has also been affected in most parts of the state especially in the morning and evening hours.
