Dense fog shrouds Delhi: 101 trains, 19 flights delayed

Thick fog engulfed the national capital this morning, leading to delay of several trains in flights due to poor visibility.


Eight arriving flights- five international and three domestic, and eleven departing flights- one international and 10 domestic, have been delayed, according to media reports.

Train services has also been badly affected due to poor visibility with as many as 101 trains scheduled to arrive in the Delhi area have been delayed too. 18 trains have been rescheduled, and 11 have been cancelled.

In northern part of the country, foggy weather conditions were also reported  in Lucknow and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, and Ludhiana in Punjab.

While the road traffic was worst affected, as the vehicles were seen literally snarling with fog lights and indicators turned on.

Weather forecaster, Skymet's chief Mahesh Palawat, had earlier said that dense fog will persist for next 2-3 days across northern India. “The sky will remain clear in the day with dense to very dense fog in the morning,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

New Delhi and parts of north-India have been facing the early morning dense fog affecting flights and railways in the last few days.
