DMK chief Karunanidhi admitted to hospital for the second time in a month

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief M Karunanidhi was admitted to a Chennai hospital late on Thursday for the second time in a month after complaining of breathing problems caused by a throat and lung infection, The Hindu reported.

“Dr.Karunanidhi was readmitted with breathing difficulty due to throat and lung infection, he is stable and being treated,” said the Kauvery Hospital in an official statement.


Karunanidhi’s daughter and Rajya Sabha MP from Tamil Nadu Kanimozhi said that his condition was improving. “He (Karunanidhi) had some lung infection and breathing difficulty, but he is much better now,” said Kanimozhi.


This is the second time this month that the DMK chief has been admitted to hospital. On December 1, he was admitted for nutritional treatment and hydration. He was discharged on December 7.
