Ex-IPL chairman Chirayu Amin among 250 people caught in Gujarat for drinking
125 men, 134 women and two British citizens were caught after the raid
Gujarat police raided a high profile drinking party in a farm house near Vadodara and nabbed more than 250 persons, including industrialist Chirayu Amin of Alembic Pharma, reports The Hindu.
The people were released on bail on Friday morning after the police collected their blood samples to check whether they had consumed liquor, which is banned in Gujarat.
Police told The Hindu that 125 men, 134 women and two British citizens were caught after the raid. Reports say that the police have seized over 100 bottles of liquor and more than 150 beer bottles from the farm house.
Owners of the farm house, Jitendra Shah and his son have been booked under the new provisions of new ordinance put up by the state to make the prohibition more strict. It is said that both the father and son would get a jail term up to 10 years under the amended law.
The police are also inquiring from where the party organisers could arrange these much of liquor. The supplier is also likely to be booked in the case.
The new provision of the prohibition law ensures up to three years term if anybody is proved to be consumed liquor.
