Five held with Rs.1.34 cr in new notes near Chennai airport
This seizure comes close on the heels of a series of Income-Tax raids in various parts of Chennai
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence on Thursday morning seized Rs.1.34 crore cash, all in new Rs.2,000 denomination, from five persons near Chennai airport. According to sources, based on a specific input, DRI officials intercepted the five persons and found them possessing the money.
They are being quizzed by a special team.
This seizure comes close on the heels of a series of Income-Tax raids in various parts of Chennai.
Recently, raid on the premises of contractor Sekhar Reddy and his associates resulted in the seizure of 127 kg of gold and over Rs. 170 crore in cash.
