The CBI is closely monitoring four RBI employees in Bengaluru, including a manager-level official, for allegedly helping a senior minister in the Karnataka government to exchange his unaccounted demonetised notes.

In a news report on Monday, The Times of India quoted a CBI source as saying that the authenticity of the complaint was being verified as it involved a senior RBI official.

It reported that an online petition, addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was circulating seeking a CBI probe into the matter.

In the petition, a senior RBI official, who also happens to be spouse of an IPS officer, is alleged to have facilitated the conversion of black money of the minister along with three other junior RBI officials.

On Saturday, the CBI had arrested two RBI employees who were allegedly involved in the conversion of Rs 1.99 crore of demonetised currency with specified bank notes of Rs 2,000 and Rs 100.

"We are receiving a lot of tip-offs against bank officials and we are referring these cases to the concerned investigative agencies, CBI and ED," a senior I-T official reportedly said.
