I-T department sends notice to Aam Aadmi Party for disparities in donor list

The Income Tax department on Tuesday has issued a notice to Aam Aadmi Party for disparities in the list of donors it had submitted to tax officials and what it had put up on the party site. The party has alleged that these are attempts by the Centre to harass them.

According to PTI,  AAP national treasurer Raghav Chadha said a mistake in the list first submitted to the I-T department was cleared after the notice was received. “Not even a single donation is concealed by the Aam Aadmi Party. We maintain 100% transparency in donors’ details and the amount we receive,” he said.

The party has clarified that the donor's list was removed from the website only because of the harassment from the tax officials. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Twitter said: “AAP receives less than 8% of its donations in cash against 70-80% cash donations received by Congress-BJP.”

On Sunday, social activist and whistleblower, Anna Hazare had criticised Kejriwal for removing the donor's list from the party website. In a letter to Kejriwal Hazare criticised Delhi CM of giving higher priority to money and power rather than bringing change. You promised me as well as the society that you will bring change. I feel sad that you didn’t fulfil your promise,” he said.
