India vs England 4th Test: Kohli's 235 steer India to 631
India's run-machine Virat Kohli and Jayant Yadav added the highest ever eighth-wicket partnership of 241 for India in Tests in the ongoing fourth Test against England in Mumbai
India's Test captain Virat Kohli on Sunday achieved yet another another milestone in the ongoing the fourth test between India and England by becoming the first Indian captain to hit three double centuries in Tests. Kohli's unbeaten knock of 235 at Mumbai's Waghede stadium also marked his third double century of this year and career and helped India to reach 631 runs in 182.3 over. England (54/3) is now in in tough spot after losing three important wickets to KIndian bowlers who struck early in the game.
India is now seems to be in total control of the game on the fourth day of the game as the visitors are staring at the mammoth score by the hosts.
Along with Jayant Yadav, Kohli made India's highest ever eighth-wicket partnership of 241 surpassing the earlier record of 161 by Mohammed Azharuddin and Anil Kumble in 1996. Jayant Yadav has also scored his maiden century.
He faced 302 deliveries to reach his second century, starting his innings from Saturday's 147. In all of Test cricket, only five men have made three or more double-hundreds in a year. Don Bradman, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Brendon McCullum and now Kohli.
Kohli added many feathers on his cap Saturday by scoring 500 runs in the series, making the second time he achived such a feat in his career. Kohli also scored 4000 runs in test cricket with the knock and shared the credit for making fastest innings with five Indian cricketers. It is also the highest ever runs scored by an Indian cricketer against England in Tests.
Kohli scored his first test double century against the West Indies (200) in July, 2016 and again repeated the feat with an amazing knock of 211) last October, and now scored came with his career's best 235 against England.
Repeating his spectacular performance in ODI, Kohli also rose to second position by ICC ODI ranking recently.
