AIADMK workers threw stones at police and media after a Tamil TV channel said she was no more. The irate workers created a ruckus at Greams Lane in which Apollo is situated. The AIADMK party headquarters had the flag at half-mast for a short period of time.
Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao landed yesterday from Mumbai and took charge.
Apollo administration maintains that she is undergoing treatment, rubbishing all news reports stating the CM of Tamil Nadu is no more. Jayalalithaa’s health had remained critical throughout Monday. A team of specialist doctors has been working round the clock to help her recover from a cardiac arrest she reportedly suffered Sunday evening. Ever since, the chief minister had been put on life support systems including ventilator.
Thousands of followers gathered outside the Apollo hospital since Sunday evening. Supporters were seen weeping inconsolably and praying for their “Amma” or mother, as she was endearingly known.
After news came in that Home Minister Rajnath Singh called Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to enquire about the health of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, sources in the Governor's office have revealed that the Governor will be joined by Rajnath to make an important announcement at 11 pm tonight.
