Jayalalithaa undergoes angioplasty, Huge crowd outside the hospital; Police on high alert
According to the party leaders J. Jayalalithaa underwent an angioplasty procedure early this morning. Reports suggest that Tamil Nadu governor will issue a statement in the morning. Administration has asked people not to believe in rumours circulating on social media or whatsapp.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa underwent an angioplasty (Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty -PTCA) after she suffered a cardiac arrest in Apollo Hospitals Chennai on Sunday.
In a late night tweet, hospital's Joint Managing Director Dr Sangita Reddy confirmed that she is critical and is being monitored. The hospital also said that 'Dr Richard Beale from London has also been consulted and he has concurred with the line of treatment by our cardiologists & pulmonologists'.

Barricading and Police deployment are underway as huge crowd gathers outside Apollo hospital. Police had to resort to a minor lathicharge to disperse an emotional crowd last night.
The AIADMK general secretary has been in hospital since September 22. Her condition had been serious with foreign specialists being flown in for consulting. Following Opposition protests in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam was handed the additional charge of CM.
Tamil Nadu governor C Vidyasagar Rao who had flown to Chennai from Mumbai late on Sunday visited the hospital. Reports suggest that governor will issue a statement in the morning. Administration has asked people not to believe in rumours circulating on social media or whatsapp.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to the governor after the latter arrived in Chennai. Singh has pushed for more security in Chennai.
Reports say media crews have thronged the area, anticipating a much bigger announcement. AIADMK workers were seen crying outside the hospital. Many ministers have arrived at the hospital, including O. Panneerselvam.
Meanwhile, orders were passed late night to mobilise all officers in the rank of SPs and police personnel of other ranks of Enforement, CB CID, EOW, Crime. They were told to report to their respective district SPs/COPs on Monday morning in full uniform with their vehicles for law and order bandobast duty until further orders.
