Kerala: 21 students suspended for ragging
Around 40 first-year students of Manjeri Medical College in Malappuram alleged that they were forced to strip and clean toilets.
As many as 21 senior students of Manjeri Medical College in Malappuram, Kerala, have been suspended after their juniors complained of extreme ragging.

Three professors of the college are working with the police to investigate the allegation.
The incident came to light after a few first-year students were caught sleeping during the class hours a few days ago. The students disclosed to the teachers that the senior students had taken them out of rooms late in the night and forced them to do several activities like singing and some were made to drink water from toilet taps.
The principal also sought an explanation from the parents of the 21 students on Monday. All the suspended students have been directed to stay away from the hostel and college campus until further orders.
On Monday, five students of a government college in Kerala's Kottayam district were arrested after a student, who was stripped and tortured, had to be taken to hospital with a kidney malfunction. He had to go through dialysis.
The victim, OS Avinash, said he and eight other students were stripped, forced to drink liquor and made to do rigorous exercises for hours on the night of Dec. 2.
Doctors said his kidneys got damaged because of severe exertion.
