Lashkar best NGO of Pakistan, Burhan Wani is a martyr: Pervez Musharraf
Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, commenting on the audio conversation between slain Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed, said that LeT is the best NGO of Pakistan and Wani is a Martyr who was forced to take up arms.
Musharraf defended Burhan Wani, who was a leader of the militant group in Kashmir -Hizbul Mujahideen, saying the policies of the Indian government forced him to take up arms.
There is nothing to be surprised that the two are in touch with each other. Hafiz Saeed is an educated man, an engineer. LeT is the best NGO of Pakistan as they did a lot of work during floods,” Musharraf told CNN-News18.
An audio tape of the conversation between Wani from his jungle hideout and Saeed sitting in Pakistan surfaced on Friday. In the audio clip, Wani could be heard requesting Saeed to extend more support to Lashkar militants inside Kashmir Valley in terms of arms, ammunition and money. However, the authenticity of the clip has not been verified yet. “You people are living in very difficult conditions. But you don’t have to worry. Whatever you need just tell us we are ready for every help. Will be ready for anything. You just have to tell us,” Saeed told Wani.
Musharraf said that Indian military forced Wani to pick up arms and fight because they harassed his family. On Hafiz Saeed, Musharraf said, “I do not accept that Hafiz Saeed as a terrorist. If I were a lawyer I would have fought his case in the court. If I was a President then I would have fought his case in UN,”
Musharraf called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a warmonger.
