When she protested, he threatened to kill her with the shooting rifle and make it look like an accident.

A national level shooter has accused her coach, who is also a former shooter and Olympian, of spiking her drink and raping her.

Reportedly, the woman shooter claimed her coach, with whom she was in a relationship with for the last two years, had promised to marry her.Police said that a case has been registered against the shooter on the basis of the complaint filed at the Chanakyapuri police station and he has been asked to join the probe.

The woman has claimed in her complaint that she has known the accused for over two years as they used to practice together. She has been training for the national championships at the shooting range of the Sports Authority of India and the accused, who had competed in international events, used to guide her.

When they were in a relationship, the accused promised to marry her. However, recently when he visited her at her residence in Chanakyapuri on her birthday, he allegedly offered her a cold drink spiked with sedatives. When she fell unconscious after having the drink, he allegedly raped her.

She further claimed that following the incident, he stopped answering calls from the woman. Later, she met him at the shooting range, but he refused to acknowledge that he had promised to marry her. When she protested, he threatened to kill her with the shooting rifle and make it look like an accident.

Police sent her for a medical examination, which confirmed rape.

The accused, who is also an Arjuna awardee, was a Sports Authority of India (SAI) coach. According to a report of NDTV, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) said this is why it cannot take a call on the accused's future.

"This is a private case between two individuals, which is being investigated by the police. We shall co-operate with the cops if we are asked to," an NRAI official said.

The SAI can suspend the accused till the charges against him are proved. But since the man has only been asked to be a part of the investigations as of now, and has not been arrested, no action has been taken as yet.
