Kaabil being sued by Netflix just a hoax?

Whilst Kaabil continues to be enveloped in troubles, latest one was the news of Netflix planning to sue Kaabil makers. However, Netflix has rubbished it claiming it to be a rumour.

According to a report of Indianexpress.com, when they contacted Netflix, it said, “Netflix has no record of such a plan and we are checking into the source of this rumour.”

Furthermore, Producer Rakesh Roshan also said, “Netflix negated this so-called news. They said it was a rumour and that they were going to find the source of it. Seeing the lighter side of this, it’s free publicity for us anyway.”

Earlier reports had said that there are similarities between a Netflix original production Daredevil and Sanjay Gupta’s Kaabil. Thus, leading to the American production company to sue Rakesh Roshan and team for plagiarism.

Three similarities had been pointed out by Netflix. Firstly, the protagonists of both the productions are blind. Secondly, some of the choreography for the action scenes shown in the promos of the film have been directly lifted from those in Daredevil. Thirdly, the colour scheme of the two productions also looks quite similar.

Refuting the allegations that Kaabil is lifted from Daredevil, Sanjay Gupta said, “It’s a preposterous comparison because Hrithik is not a superhero in
Kaabil.
His character is of a blind man who does what he does best. In Daredevil, the protagonist fights 30 people at the same time. None of that is happening in Kaabil. If they sue us, we will definitely fight back.”

Kaabil is co-produced by Rakesh Roshan’s FilmKraft Productions and Sanjay Gupta’s White Feature Films.

The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam in lead roles and Ronit Roy. Kaabil is set to release in the evening slots on January 25, 2017.
