O Panneerselvam likely to meet PM Modi on Monday
Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam expects a sum of Rs. 1000 crore rupees for post-Vardah releif measures.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Monday. He would urge for financial aid of Rs. 1000 crore to take up relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction measures post the cyclone Vardah.
OPS had recently sent a letter to the PM asking financial aid for taking up of relief measures in Tamil Nadu. A leading daily said that the leaders including MK Stalin have requested CM to meet Modi in Delhi to make things move quicker.
OPS is likely to brief the PM about the impact of Vardah in Chennai, Kanjipuram and Thiuvallur districts. An amount of Rs. 1000 crore is expected to be released as the first phase. He expects the centre to send a crew of experts to Tamil Nadu to verify post Vardah situation in the state.
Panneerselvam also will urge the centre to award nation's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' to Former CM J Jayalalithaa.
"The Chief Minister will also handover a letter to bestow late chief minister J. Jayalalithaa with the Bharat Ratna and to unveil bronze statue in the Parliament campus," an official statement said.
