Mayawati supports Mamata over army deployment, says politicisation of army should not be done

Trinamool Congress raises the issue of 'Army Deployment in West Bengal' in both the Houses of Parliament on Friday

The United Opposition on Friday came out in support of the West Begall Chief Minster Mamata Banerjee over the Army deployment after she alleged that the Army presence in the state to an attempted “military coup”.

Backing Trinamool Congress supremo, BSP Chief Mayawati said the Central goverment of doing injustice to the Bengal CM and it is an attack on the Constitution of India.

“Politicisation of the Indian Army should not be done,” Mayawati said.

Mamata Banerjee earlier accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre of “harassing people for political gains”.

“I am vocal against demonetisation and thus this coup. I am for people. Why aren’t they doing this elsewhere,” she asked.

“They are saying Manipur, Assam and Nagaland, who have crosschecked their claims. Manipur and Nagaland are troubled places. Army is already there. Assam has BJP government. So who knows what the truth is,” Banerjee added.
