Pathankot on high alert after abandoned car found near Indo-Pak border
The people travelling in the vehicle fled the spot when locals tried to stop them.
Security has been beefed up and an alert has been sounded after an abandoned car was found at Farfal village near Pathankot, with the occupants escaping after being chased by villagers, police said on Thursday.
The car was noticed by villager in the border district with a Jammu and Kashmir registration number and they gave it a chase.
PTI quoted Senior Superintendent of Police Pathankot Rakesh Kaushal as saying that, the occupants of the car then locked the vehicle and ran away.
Police have launched a hunt for the occupants.
“Once the car is unlocked, we will be able to find details about its occupants,” the official said.
In January this year, a heavily armed group had attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station, which part of the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force.
