Police evacuate Trump Tower after finding a suspicious object

US President-elect Donald Trump’s residence Trump Tower in New York had to be evacuated on Tuesday at 4:30  PM, after  police stumbled upon a package in the lobby of the building. But, a search operation using sniffer dogs, revealed that it was only a bag full of toys, said police later.

Trump was not present in his residence at the time of the incident, said news reports. Panic gripped the building as CCTV footage showed an unidentified boy boy discarding a bag in the lobby of the tower, said CNN.




After police announced that situation is under control, Sean Spicer, Trump spokesperson tweeted, "Back to work here at Trump Tower after a false alarm. Thanks NYPD."

New York Police said, every day they get least 42 mysterious packages, however only one turn out to be really dangerous.

New York Police Department Detective Hubert Reyes confirmed that bomb squad had examined the parcel, which turned out to be harmless toys. But, agencies have started a probe to find out if any serious lapses happened.

"Suspicious package at Trump Tower has been examined by NYPD Bomb Squad. Deemed to be an unattended bag and safe," police tweeted later.
