Malayalam singer Gayatri Asokan and noted sitar player and composer Purbayan Chatterjee tied the knot at a traditional wedding at Trissur, Kerala. The ceremonies took place at Thrissur’s Paramekkavu temple.

40-year old Chatterjee, who is a recipient of the President of India Award, which he received at the age of 15 has performed at several global venues. He has played sitar with tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan etal. The duo has performed together many times recently. He has also received the A V Birla award for excellence and contributions to the field. Both Gayatri and Purbayan had divorced their first spouses.
