K Surendran, Kerala State General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, has landed in trouble over his Facebook post on Jayalalithaa. Surendran published a post on Monday evening which says Jayalalithaa's demise will bring positive effects in Tamil Nadu politics. Surendran’s post has soon become viral and drawn fierce criticism from social media users.
Most of the critics consider it as an extremely ill-timed statement becaus he pooster it while she had been in a critical stage and her supporters were praying for her life. Many point out that K Surendran’s post is an indication of BJP’s intentions in Tamil Nadu politics. They fear the lack of quality leaders to substitute Jayalalithaa and aging Karunanidhi may make secular parties like AIADMK and DMK more vulnerable to BJP.
The complete translation of Surendran’s post in Malayalam:
"There will be many positive changes in Tamilnadu politics when the Jayalalitha era comes to an end. Let’s hope that the Dravidian politics, which has set itself on regional sentiments and sycophancy, will eventually give way to mainstream national politics. AIADMK cannot march forward much under the leadership of Panneerselvam. Let’s wait and see."
