Saithan Review: Psychological thriller receives mixed responses

Debutant Pradeep Krishnamurthy’s psychological thriller Saithan, featuring Vijay Antony, Arundhati Nair in the lead roles, received mixed responses from audience across the country.

The Tamil movie, which hit the screens on Thursday, is reportedly based on Stieg Larsson's novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The movie was simultaneously released in Telugu as Bethaludu on same day.

Saithan tells the story of a software engineer Dinesh (Vijay Antony), who is in search for woman named Jayalakshmi, and the plot of the film revolves around a mystery between his past life and reality.


Dinesh and his newlywed wife, Aishwarya (Arundhathi Nair), meet a psychiatrist after he has been hearing a voice that tells him to go and murder Jayalakshmi, who, as the voice tells, has murdered him in his previous birth. Dinesh travels to Tanjore to reveal the mystery behind out the mystery behind the voice, or to trace the story told by the voice. But he puts himself in a dilemma after realising that Jayalkashmi looks exactly like Aishwarya.

Written by Pradeep Krishnamoorthy, Joe D Cruz, and Karthik Krishna, the movie was produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation.

While the cinematography is done by Pradeep Kalipurayath, actor Vijay Antony himself has composed the music for the movie.
