TDP MLA says he studied Physics in B.Com, Accounts means Physics and Maths
A Telugu Desam Party MLA claimed to have studied physics in his Bachelors of Commerce programme. That's quite a mix, we agree!
A legislator of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh claimed to have studied physics in his Bachelors of Commerce (B.Com) programme.
Jaleel Khan, a Telugu Desam Party MLA, in an interview shot by a local Telugu news portal, made a statement that he studied Physics for his B.Com degree.
When Khan was asked by the interviewer whether he was passionate about commerce and ever wanted to be a chartered accountant, he said he studied commerce because of his interest in mathematics and physics.
It is clear that the MLA was lying about his educational credentials. His claim of studying Mathematics for B.Com might be true since some Indian universities have Mathematics paper for first year Commerce students. But, studying Physics for B.Com? Well, you seem to be a step ahead of former HRD minister Smriti Irani, who had claimed that she had a degree from Yale University after attending a certificate course!
The interviewer, a B.Com graduate himself, tried to correct Khan saying mathematics and physics were not taught in B Com. But Khan confidently reiterated that he studied the science subjects in B.Com.
“Who said they are not taught in B.Com?... Accounts means physics and maths no? Perhaps, you’ve forgotten,” Khan said to the reporter.
He also went on to say that he scored “100 out of 100 marks in mathematics” and that he was an ace in the subject since his childhood. “I don’t even need a calculator.”
Jaleel Khan was earlier in the YSR Congress and joined the TDP. Earlier, former Delhi Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested on the charge of possessing fake degrees in 2015.
