Titanic, Bewitched actor Bernard Fox dies of heart attack

Veteran actor Bernard Fox, who immortalised the role of Dr. Bombay in popular TV series Bewitched has died of heart failure on Wednesday at the age of 89, according to media reports.

Fox’s character was modelled on his superior naval officer’s character during his stint with the Royal Navy, added reports. He was known for his funny roles and had acted in about 19 episodes in the popular series that ran from 1966-1972, which became an instant hit with the audience.



He was also featured in popular films like Titanic, The Mummy, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, The Dyke Van Dyke Show, McHale's Navy and Columbo.

He also acted in the sequel to the series, "Tabitha" , followed by some appearances in "Pee-wee's Playhouse" and also "Passions". Fox has acted in about 113 movies in his career, including his last outing in 2001 in an episode of television show "Dharma & Greg."

He is also credited for acting in two movies on the Titanic ship tragedy, A Night to Remember made in 1958  and Titanic in 1997.


He also played bit parts in "Herbie goes to Monte Carlo" (1977), "The Private Eyes" (1980) and "Yellowbeard" (1983). Hollywood has lost many famous personalities this year , including Alan Thicke, Peter Vaughan, Greg Lake and Adrianne Tolsch already.
