Assam BJP MLA forces engineer to touch his feet, watch it here
As the vehicle of MLA was causing inconvenience to peoples movement there, the engineer had asked the driver to park it elsewhere but he picked up a quarrel.
Jayanta Das, a Junior Engineer in Assam’s Nagaon district was allegedly made to apologise by touching the feet of a BJP MLA, Dimbeswar Das, for removing the legislator’s car which had blocked the road to the office.
The action recorded in a camera of TV news channels and in front of eyewitnesses showed Jayanta Das, Junior Engineer of Kothiatoli Development Block in Nagaon district touching Raha constituency MLA Dimbeswar Das’ feet in the Block Development Office, the official said.
The MLA had gone on a sudden inspection of the office on Thursday. As the vehicle of MLA was causing inconvenience to people’s movement there, the engineer had asked the driver to park it elsewhere but he picked up a quarrel.
But the MLA claimed that he had never asked the engineer to touch his feet. “The locals had told me about an altercation between him (the engineer) and my driver over the parking of my vehicle. So, I intervened and resolved the issue. But, later, when I was eating food, the engineer suddenly appeared from nowhere and touched my feet,” MLA said.
The Congress has BJP slammed the MLA. “We condemn his act. This is a reflection of BJP’s feudal mindset. They want to rule the state with a capitalist mindset,” Congress spokesman Apurba Bhattacharya said. “The engineer is a state government employee who was forced to touch the MLA’s feet.
"This is shame for the BJP which claims it is different from the Congress. They brag about their cultures. If this is their culture, we are sorry. The Congress cannot follow such culture,” Bhattacharya added.
While, Das, the BJP MLA denied before the media later that the JE touched his feet in apology. But the BJP MLA has clearly seen in the video clip scolding the engineer, who then touched Das’ feet in apology.
