Former world No.1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic crashed out of Australian Open in the second round after he was beaten by unseeded Uzbek tennis player Denis Istomin in a five-set thriller. The six-time champion was bowed out  7-6 (8), 5-7, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 by Istomin, ranked 117

A first set which lasted for 85 minutes saw Istomin winning the tie-breaker 7-6 (8). The Serb came back in the second set with a champion's quality 7-5. Djokovic totally dominated the third set and won it 6-2.

When everyone thought the ball was in the Serb's court, Istomin, with his hard hitting came back to take the fourth 7-6 (4) in the tie-break. Istomin broke Djoko's serve early in the final set and eventually emerged as the winner with 6-4.

A very valiant performance from the Uzbek who clearly was the better player on the Rod Laver Arena on Thursday.
