UP Election: Don-turned-politcian Mukhtar Ansari to join BSP

Don-turned-politician and sitting MLA from Mau Mukhtar Ansari is likely to join the Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

NDTV reported that Mayawati will be personally present on the occasion to announce the  entry of Ansari and members of his family on Thursday. It is learnt that Mayawati has offered to give them three Assembly seats.

Mukhtar Ansari may contest from Mau itself and his son Abbas Ansari will contest from Ghosi and his older brother Sibagatullah Ansari will contest from Mohammadabad.

Ansari reportedly made a move to BSP after Akhilesh Yadav tried to distance  him from the party completely.

In 2016, SP had announced that Ansari's party will join the party reportedly after a deal has been brockered by Shivpal Yadav, Akhilesh’s uncle.

Akhilesh's has reacted strongly against the merger as the power struggle in the party between nephew and uncle turned out into a full blown war with party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on the side Shivpal against the UP Chief Minister.
