Bengaluru: Sixth accused held in Kammanahali molestation case
He had fled Bengaluru after his associates were arrested and took shelter in Velankanni
The Bengaluru police have arrested a 21-year-old electrician for his alleged involvement in the molestation of a woman in Kammanahali in the city in the early hours of Jan. 1. A CCTV footage of the molestation attempt had gone viral on social media.
George alias Pappi, the sixth accused to be arrested in the case, was picked up from his hideout near Anekal on Monday morning, Times of India has reported. She was attacked by two scooterists while she was walking to her stay after alighting from an autorickshaw around 2.30 am on Dec 31-Jan1 intervening night. She was visiting her sister, who had accompanied her and had got down from the auto a few seconds earlier and entered her house.
While Ayyappa and Leno entered the lane, Sudhi and Chinni were waiting on a two-wheeler at the end of the road. James, 21, and Pappi, were on a third two-wheeler. James was arrested on January 7.
A police source said Pappi fled Bengaluru after his associates were arrested, and took shelter in Velankanni. He later came to Anekal, and hid at a friend's place, they added.
