Capt Amarinder to be next CM of Punjab: Rahul Gandhi
"There is a cut for the Badal family in everything in the state. Punjab pays a Badal tax,"Rahul said
Taking the veil off Congress Chief Minister face of Punjab, Rahul Gandhi today announced that Captain Amarinder Singh, Punjab Congress chief, is the party's presumptive chief minister. His Punjab election tour is focused on a takedown of the Badals, who rule Punjab at the head of an Akali Dal-BJP government.
In his first public speech for his three-day tour in Punjab, Rahul said, "There is a cut for the Badal family in everything in the state. Punjab pays a Badal tax."
"Whoever has hurt Punjab, we will put them all in jail. We will fight in support of Punjab," Rahul said.
"I just want to say a few things, we(Congress) will form such law and government against drugs in Punjab that will make everyone shiver at the first thought of drugs. Modiji claims to fight against corruption, then how can he support Akali Dal? Whole nation knows it (Akali Dal) has ruined Punjab," Rahul addressed the crowd.
"Punjab will be run by a Punjabi government only," he said and announced Captain Amarinder Singh as Congress' Chief Ministerial candidate.
Vowing to work towards changing Punjab, Rahul Gandhi said that their promises are not hollow and that they will work together bringing a strict law to fight the ongoing drug menace.
Captain Amarinder Singh has challenged the chief minister in Lambi. Much like Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party, the Congress chose to open its big attack on the ruling alliance from Majitha, the assembly constituency of Bikram Singh Majithia, an influential and controversial minister in the Badal government.
"We will have to look for answers to questions like who is responsible for the drug menace and who is to be punished for this. I promise you, if the Congress comes to power in Punjab, we will make a law against this menace," said Rahul Gandhi in a fierce attack.
