Delhi Police detain Trinamool MPs protesting outside PMO

TMC workers staged the protest outside PMO and shouted slogans against PM Narendra Modi accusing him of indulging in a political vendetta after the party raised its voice against the demonetisation move.

Several Trinamool Congress MPs and party workers on Thursday forcibly attempted to enter Prime Minister’s office at South Block while they were protesting the arrest of their party MPs- Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Tapas Pal- in connection with Rose Valley scam, but were detained by Delhi Police.

TMC workers staged the protest outside PMO and shouted slogans against PM Narendra Modi accusing him of indulging in a political vendetta after the party raised its voice against the demonetisation move.

The tussle between the Modi government and the TMC has escalated since the arrest of Bandyopadhyay and Pal.

Earlier in the day, Union minister Babul Supriyo alleged that several TMC workers attacked his house in Kolkata.

“Don’t want to make issue of attack on my house; everyone’s safe but attacking ground level BJP workers in WB is wrong,” said Supriyo. Supriyo also tweeted a video in this regard.

BJP leader GVL Narasimha commenting on TMC protest said, “Protesting on the streets so much will not help. The fact that they are protesting so much will make people think they have a lot to hide. These protests will not help.”

Meanwhile, BJP delegation from West Bengal arrived in New Delhi to meet Home Minister, Rajnath Singh at North Block, to submit a memorandum.
