Ex-minister E Ahamed gets cardiac arrest; condition critical
The 78-year-old leader collapsed during President Pranab Mukherjee�s address to both Houses of Parliament in the central hall
Former Minister of State E Ahamed, who represents the Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency of Kerala and is the national president of the Indian Union Muslim League, collapsed during President Pranab Mukherjee’s address to both Houses of Parliament in the central hall on Tuesday and suffered a cardiac arrest.
He was immediately taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital where his condition is said to be critical, IE reported. The 78-year-old leader complained of uneasiness and breathlessness, sources said.
Ahamed had served as the Minister of State for External Affairs in the previous UPA government.
According to the hospital authorities, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Development Of North East Region Minister Jitendra Singh visited RML to enquire about Ahamed’s condition.
