Five held for brutally torturing woman in Bengaluru

Five persons, including three women, on Friday were arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly stripping, beating and torturing a young woman in the presence of her mother.

The accused, who were looking for a 15-year-old girl believed to have eloped with an Assamese youth, allegedly kidnapped and rubbed chilli powder on the victim’s private parts when she failed to led them to the eloped couple.

The abductors suspected that the mother and daughter were sheltering a 22-year-old Assamese youth named Shaukath and his friend, a 15-year-old girl, who is related to one of the accused,

The News Minute reported.

The Nandini layout police have arrested Tasina Rehman (32), Yasmin Jabiullah Taj (27), Indramma Raju (28), Imran Pasha (28) and Jaibullah Wasim (33), residents of Yeshwantpur, MS Palya and Lakshmidevi Nagar.

The victim told media that on January 14, around midnight, she and her mother were kidnapped and taken to an isolated place.

“My mother is a janitorial staff in a private hospital and Shaukath was her colleague. He used to visit our house in Lakshmidevi Nagar quite often and became friends with the minor girl. The accused had suspected that Shaukath and the minor girl had eloped and my mother and I were harbouring them,” the woman added.

The victim said Tasina, the minor girl’s relative, and the other accused came to her house and demanded to see Shaukath and the minor girl. The mother and daughter then tried calling Shaukath, but his phone was switched off.

“They asked me to show them where he stayed and I told them that he lived somewhere in Assam Colony near Tin Factory. They pushed me inside an auto and took me to Tasina’s place and accused me of misleading them. I pleaded with them but they did not believe me. They then stripped me and attacked me brutally in front of my mother,” the woman added.

The accused allegedly stuffed chilli powder in her private parts and beat up her mother when she tried to rescue the woman, an officer at the Nandini Layout said.

“They made the younger woman lie on the floor and beat her on the back with wooden logs. The accused also branded the daughter on her back and legs with a hot spatula. The accused took them to the mother's house and thrashed them again,” police added.

The mother and daughter lodged a complaint on January 15. The police initially detained the three women and later the two men.

The victim was taken for medical tests and the reports proved that she was attacked brutally, police said.

Shaukath and the minor girl were found on Friday night at KR Puram. He was arrested under the POCSO Act for abducting the minor.

According to police, Tasina, Imran and Jabiullah are siblings and Yasmin is Jabiullah's wife. Indramma, a social worker, is Tasina's neighbour.
