Foldable iPhone gun puts European cops on high alert

Named as "iPhone Gun", the weapon is camouflaged as an iPhone but can turn lethal at the touch of a button

An iPhone lookalike 9mm double-barrel gun put European police on high alert after the authorities received a warning that it could be smuggled to the continent when it goes on sale in the US.

Named as “iPhone Gun”, the weapon is camouflaged as an iPhone but can turn lethal at the touch of a button.

According to The Evening Standard, rumours say the weapon can be imported to Europe within days of its release for the criminals, as authorities are trying rein in the borders due to terror hostilities.

Priced half than an iPhone 7, the device will open for sales around 330 pounds. The report also said that Belgian police have already released a high-security alert following frequent terrorist attacks across Europe.

Although no copies have been found in the country, the authorities in an alert sent to the police, say that it might be expected soon.

“To the eye, nothing can distinguish it from a mobile telephone,” said the Belgian police alert, reported by Derniare Heure newspaper.

“Most people possess a smartphone, meaning that it can pass completely overlooked.”

Manufactured by Minnesota-based Ideal Conceal, the gun goes for sale in the US next week. The company said on their Facebook page: “Smartphones are everywhere, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today’s environment. In its locked position it will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight.”

A passenger, while passing through Stansted Airport in Essex last year was stopped by security forces for possessing an iPhone case made to look like a gun.
