Happy Birthday, Deepika Padukone!

Ace badminton player but sacrificed the career for studies, Deepika then joined modeling while in college. She was famously a Liril and Limca girl and is now popular in the ads for Nescafe, Fiama Di Wills, Pepsi, and Sony Cybershot.

Her Bollywood debut was with King Khan in Om Shanti Om in 2007, which won the IIFA Awards' Best Debutant Award, Filmfare Best Female Debut Award as well as her first Filmfare Best Actress nomination. Her career has escalated pretty much quickly since then, and in the past few years, she has been scaling heights, taking her performance up a notch every time.

Her appearances have become fashion goals for women across the globe. And her NGO "Live Love Laugh" has been praised along with her fashion stint with "all about fashion (abof)."

We bring you some of the statements made by her, which throw light on the kind of amazing human she is.

"I always think before I speak. I'm not the sort who will just say anything that comes to my mind. I'm a very emotional and sensitive person. But I'm also very strong and know my mind well."

"I feel ups and downs are a part of one's career, and this totally depends on how you take it. You can either be knocked down by negative things, or you can take it in a positive way and learn from it."

"Realize that you are not alone, that we are in this together and most important that there is hope."

"When you look at a person, any person, everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that has changed their life. Anxiety, depression and panic attacks are not signs of weakness. They are signs of trying to remain strong for way too long."

Here's to the powerful, beautiful and strong-willed woman that Deepika is. Happy Birthday!
