Though HTC didn’t say when the Vive would actually go wireless, reports suggest it’s more of a prototype at this time, using a technology called WiGig. Earlier, HTC‘s partner, Intel, has said that it sees tethered and untethered VR merging, and the high-speed WiGig connection makes that a reality.
The Vive Tracker enables motion tracking for entirely new form factors within the VR world. It is the foundation for building a new accessories ecosystem for Vive and there are many partners in our space at CES showing off their Vive Tracker integrations including multiple rifles built for VR shooters, a baseball bat, a firehose and haptic gloves for a truly immersive VR experience, the company said.
The Vive Deluxe Audio Strap is designed with adjustable headphones to allow the user to enjoy even more comfort and convenience. The headstrap also offers integrated headphones and a new customizable sizing dial for quickly adjusting the fit of the headstrap.
