Jallikattu crackdown: NHRC issues notice to Tamil Nadu govt

Police resorted to massive lathicharge and used batons and tear gas to disperse angry mobs in Chennai as the Jallikattu protests have turned violent on Monday. Reports of widespread arson and looting have been reported from some parts of the city, added media reports.
Protesters are camping at city's Marina Beach and threatened to halt the Republic Day celebrations, reported NDTV.
Police resorted to lathicharge in other cities like Coimbatore, Madurai also, added reports.
