Kerala Human Rights Commission notice to Lakshmi Nair
Students of the Kerala Law Academy, where she is a principal, have approached the commission alleging that Nair has been insulting and harassing Dalit and girl students.
After taking suo motu cognisance, the Kerala Human Rights Commission on Monday sought an explanation from Lakshmi Nair, principal of Kerala Law Academy and a celebrity chef, regarding the student agitation at the institute.
Students of the academy have approached the commission alleging that Nair has been insulting and harassing Dalit and girl students. Commission chairman P Mohandas said the principal had not taken any step to end the protest, which has been going on for two weeks. Dalit students have complained against the principal’s “casteist comments”.
Police said they received three complaints from students and were probing the matter. Nair said the allegations were baseless. “We are ready to face any probe,” Nair added.
