The Vigilance on Friday registered an FIR against former minister EP Jayarajan in a nepotism case.

Jayarajan has been named as the first accused in the FIR registered by the vigilance team that conducted a quick verification against him.

PK Sreemathy's son Sudheer Nambiar and Industries department Secretary Paul Antony have been named as second and third accused, respectively, in the FIR, Mathrubhumi News

reported.

Jayarajan had to resign as the Industries Minister after the appointment of Sudheer Nambiar, son of Kannur MP PK Sreemathi, as the managing director of Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Ltd.

Sudheer's appointment was later quashed by the government.

In his statement to Vigilance, Jayarajan had said he gave a note to the Industries Department Secretary, saying that the appointment should be conducted legally only and qualification and norms should be followed. The Vigilance had recorded the statement of Industries Secretary Paul Antony also.
